Immersed in vineyards and countryside overlooking Orvieto, the family run Locanda Palazzone is part hotel part winery. With a modern, sleek minimalist style, the former barn is now home to seven suites. All the rooms make great use of light, with many having floor to ceiling windows that make the most of the views of the surrounding countryside. Modern furniture decks out the suites, with crisp white bedsheets surrounded by steel framed beds and parquet flooring.
Downstairs is a large open-plan space which serves as a living area with industrial furniture, comfy sofas, leather chairs and fireplace as well as a restaurant with original stone walls and fireplace. During the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the views.
Outside in the large gardens there is a pool area as well as the winery, where you can have a tour and learn about the production.
OUR OPINION:
We love the Locanda Palazzone for its modern feel and great use of light. Its close proximity to Orvieto makes it a great spot for exploring the area while relaxing in the evenings.

Rooms
Floor to ceiling windows in most of the suites make the most of the countryside views and natural light. Rooms are decorated in a minimal, modern style with industrial style furnishings. Some of the larger suites have a separate living area, making them suitable for families and there is an apartment suite which has a small kitchenette area. All suites are equipped with Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Location
Locanda Palazzone is immersed in its own vineyards, and beyond them lies the rolling fields of the Umbrian countryside. The nearest town, Orvieto, is located around a 6 km (4 miles) away from the property and you will find a range of shops, bars and restaurants there.
Food and drink
A buffet breakfast of a small selection of hot and cold dishes is served in the restaurant area on the ground floor and outside on the terrace during warmer month. Dinners can be booked on request via the concierge. There is a daily menu of regional Umbrian dishes that use fresh local ingredients.
Facilities and activities
In the gardens there is an outdoor pool surrounded by comfy sunloungers. The hotel offers tours of its onsite winery with some food and wine tastings.
