New experiences announced by Audley across its destinations

Published: 29/05/2017   /   Updated: 14/07/2021

Leading provider of tailor-made trips, Audley Travel, is introducing fantastic new experiences for its clients across its destinations. Every trip that an Audley Travel client takes is designed just for them — based on their tastes, budget and interests — and these experiences are now available for clients to discuss with their destination specialist.

Self-drive through Botswana

A fantastic experience for the more adventurous traveller visiting Botswana is the opportunity to drive across the country — this is a fun and more budget friendly option than the traditional travel between camps by light aircraft. The journey is an adventure in itself, with deep sand and roads which are far from perfect quality to navigate. For those up to the challenge, the rewards are immense. Highly recommended by Audley’s Botswana experts is Khwai Tented Camp, overlooking the Khwai River in the northern part of the Okavango Delta. Guests enjoy meals under the stars on purpose built decking with the sounds of the animals close-by in the bush as evening entertainment. The recommended stops of the self-drive itinerary also include the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, one of the largest in the world.

Audley Travel offers tailor-made self-drive itineraries to Botswana. An 11-day trip including six nights on safari in the Okavango Delta costs from £4,620 per person (based on two sharing) and includes all flights, transfers, accommodation, 4x4 hire and game drives. For more information visit Audley's Botswana pages or call 01993 838 530.

Explore Storms River on kayaks and lilos in South Africa

Ideal for travellers who want to explore deeper into the Tsitsikamma Forest than traditional tours go, Audley Travel is introducing the Active Storms River and Tsitsikamma Forest Tour. The first part of the tour is undertaken in kayaks, paddling across the ocean from the harbour and into the mouth of Storms River. The tour continues in the kayaks into the bats’ cave, enjoying the views of the cliffs surrounding the river. At the low water point the group moves into lilos (small inflatable boats ideal to access the narrower sections of the river) to continue exploring the gorge walking, floating and wading over the varying terrain. The views throughout this experience are stunning, as the river is surrounded by indigenous forest and towered over by cliffs.

This adventurous day can be included in any tour that travels along the Garden Route. A sample itinerary to use as a basis for a tailor-made trip is Audley’s Discover South Africa and includes Cape Town, Plettenberg Bay and a safari on the Eastern Cape to look for the Big Five and costs from £1,940 for 15 days. Price is based on two sharing and includes international flights, all local transport, accommodation and excursions. For more information visit Audley's South Africa pages or call 01993 838 550.

Stay overnight on an Australian vineyard, in the comfort of a motorhome

A must for wine lovers visiting Australia, Audley Travel is now giving clients the opportunity to spend the night in a motorhome in the grounds of some of the country’s best and most picturesque vineyards, parked in an exclusive location to ensure privacy. Depending on the vineyard, guests are either treated to a meal and wine in the vineyard’s own restaurant or receive a hamper of the freshest local food to enjoy in their motorhome kitchen as well as a bottle of wine. Either way, guests enjoy an evening sampling local flavours, without needing to assign a designated driver for a return journey.

Overnight vineyard experiences are available in Victoria and South Australia and can be added onto any of Audley’s tailor-made itineraries in the regions. A sample itinerary, Southeast Discovered, costs from £4,270 per person for 20 days and includes Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, The Barossa Valley, the Blue Mountains and the Grampians National Park. Price is based on two sharing and includes international flights, all local transport, accommodation and excursions. For more information visit Audley's Australia pages or call 01993 838 810.

Hike around Inle Lake in Myanmar

Audley Travel’s Southeast Asia experts have introduced a series of hiking excursions around the beautiful Inle Lake in Myanmar. The routes vary according to the experience and ability of the client, but all are led by a local guide who speaks the varying dialects of the region, giving a rare opportunity to interact with the locals during the excursion. The hike will take in some of the small fishing villages of the lake with stunning views of the houses on stilts in which the Intha people live and gives the opportunity to watch the unique way the locals travel across the lake, propelled by their own style of rowing using their legs.

Hikes around Inle Lake can be included in Audley’s tailor-made Myanmar itineraries that visit the region. As an example, a 13-day tour of Myanmar, Essential Myanmar, which includes time in Yangon, Mandalay and Inle Lake costs from £3,590 per person. The price is based on two sharing and includes international flights, all local transport, accommodation and excursions. For more information visit Audley's Myanmar pages or call 01993 838 105.
