The understandably popular Riad Dar Maya is nestled in the heart of Essaouira's old medina, just a short walk from the souqs, ramparts and beach. Offering excellent value for money the riad is a wise choice in Essaouira, where accommodation standards do not match those found elsewhere in the country.
Dar Maya has been designed in a beautifully understated and relaxed style, very much in keeping with Essaouira's laid-back vibe. Although the riad is quite compact, the five rooms are relatively spacious and have been tastefully designed with muted colours and traditional quirky Moroccan touches. Unlike the vast majority of hotels in Essaouira, one of Dar Maya's real boasts is that it has a small plunge pool on the rooftop terrace. The pool really makes the riad stand out from the crowd, as it is very difficult to find a characterful hotel that has this facility.
