Villa Inle Resort

Inle Lake, Myanmar

This small, boutique resort enjoys a truly intimate setting on the quiet eastern shores of Inle Lake and is a peaceful haven away from the bustle of the main lake. Boasting superb views across the lakeside gardens to the main expanse of the lake, this is the perfect spot to relax, take a stroll through the gardens or enjoy a swim in the pool after a day of exploring. When the lake's full, the water can come right up to the edge of the resort, and in the drier months the water level declines to open up the expanse of lakeside fields and floating gardens tended by members of the local community.

Accommodation is in spacious villas, and the resort is sympathetically designed to keep the impact to the lakeside environment and surrounding communities to a minimum, making it one of the leading options in the area.

OUR OPINION:

One of the leading boutique options on Inle Lake. The staff are attentive and friendly, making every effort to ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing.

Rooms

Designed to blend in with the lake's natural environment, each of the villas is spacious and tastefully furnished to maintain the resort's harmonious atmosphere. With high wooden ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and king size beds, they create a feeling of luxury and comfort, with each having its own personalised local touches such as local paintings and antiques. Most of the villas are situated on the lakefront with views across the gardens and the main expanse of Inle Lake, while a few are set further back looking out over the natural pond. Air conditioning and other facilities such as TVs, safes, hair dryers and free Wi-Fi access are included, although Wi-Fi is sporadic and tends to be better in the lounge area. Each villa also has its own terrace, where guests can sit back and watch flocks of birds and local fishermen going about their business on the lake.

Please note that the lakeside setting does mean that insects can be plentiful. However, staff will spray your room with insect repellent each evening and mosquito nets are provided.

Location

Just a 30-minute boat ride from the township of Nyaung Shwe, the resort can also be reached by road, making it an easy trip to and from Heho and other areas of Shan State. Villa Inle is located on the eastern fringe of Inle Lake and is therefore in the perfect spot for experiencing the most wonderful sunsets in Myanmar.

Food and drink

The lakeside restaurant serves a selection of Western, Burmese, local Shan and Inthar cuisine, and the chef will serve food from the local vegetable garden where possible. There's also a bar serving a variety of drinks.

Families

Most villas are spacious enough to accommodate two adults and one child under ten years old on the daybed. Extra beds may be organised at the discretion of the resort and cots are available on request, but subject to availability.

Facilities and activities

The resort boasts a wonderful spa, swimming pool with pool bar, a library, a 24-hour front desk and complimentary Wi-Fi. There's daily housekeeping and room service, a laundry service and a resort buggy to transfer your luggage. The resort also has a pool of local trekking guides should you wish to arrange additional excursions.
