High on the hill overlooking the ocean, Allegra House is a wonderful place to stay in the Bay of Islands region. The hosts are welcoming and will direct you to one of three light and airy rooms with fantastic views. The two first floor rooms have super king beds, while the ground floor Island Suite has a queen and is a little smaller. All rooms have en suite bathrooms with tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, air conditioning, TV and DVD players. All rooms have the use of the first floor lounge and dining room where a continental breakfast is served. The ground floor apartment is great for couples staying longer and has kitchen facilities to be able to provide your own meals. The Allegra House's connecting deck provides a light and spacious place to enjoy breakfast or an evening meal. The simple elegant décor and friendly welcome makes this a fantastic place to start or end your trip to New Zealand.
The guest suites are designed with modern furnishings, sunny seating areas and they share a common lounge on the first floor. The top floor suites have en suite bathrooms with showers and a super king size bed, whilst the downstairs Island Suite has a queen size bed and en suite shower room. The property's self-contained apartment is spacious and light, and comprises a bedroom with queen size bed, a bathroom, kitchen and dining area.
It is just a five minute walk downhill into the town, and it is also close to the passenger ferry across to the town of Paihia, where you can visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
Food and Drink
A delicious, extensive continental breakfast is included, served on your private balcony or in the dining room. A short walk away from the Allegra House is the town of Russell, or guests can take the ferry across to Paihia; both towns have some lovely restaurants to choose from, most notably the Duke of Marlborough in Russell, which was the first licenced pub in New Zealand.
Facilities and Activities
Allegra House has its own bush area where guests can view many native New Zealand birds and trees. The property also operates an open kitchen where guests can help themselves to tea and coffee, and an honesty box is provided for wines and homemade jams and chutneys.
A great value option, with fantastic views over the Bay of Islands. Heinz and Brita are extremely friendly and welcoming hosts, who are more than happy to recommend and book excursions for guests.
