Knapdale Eco Lodge
Knapdale Eco Lodge, Eastland & Gisborne, New Zealand
Knapdale Eco Lodge provides the perfect combination of great accommodation, superb hosting, and a real working farm experience. Winners of the 2006 North Island Farm Forester of the Year Award, Kay and Kees Weytman have already invested huge efforts into planting native trees to encourage the birdlife. You are encouraged to wander the grounds to meet the chickens, sheep, cattle and deer, assist with feeding or planting, or gather fruit for a freshly squeezed juice.
The main lodge is part of the owners' dream to create an outstanding, safe and ecologically sustainable tourism venture. There are just two guest rooms in the lodge, meaning you can enjoy a wonderfully peaceful stay, and with a large lounge, dining and deck area the rest of the lodge provides ample space for relaxation. The grounds also house a significant Maori pa site, giving guests the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the surrounding area.
