Solitaire Lodge is situated on an exclusive, privately owned peninsula on the shores of Lake Tarawera. From the timber framed entranceway to the subtle detail in the furnishings, the whole lodge is designed to reflect the surrounding natural environment, and create a relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere. There are ten beautifully appointed suites, all of which boast stunning lake or mountain views, king beds, comfortable chairs for lounging, and a private balcony. A feature of the spacious bathrooms is deep, freestanding bathtub, from which you can see out over the lake.
With a professional chef onsite you can expect contemporary New Zealand cuisine prepared with local produce, and superb wines from selected vineyards. There are kayaks and a motorized dinghy available for guest use, you can fish for trout or just take a swim in the lake from the lodge's own jetty, or take a stroll through the delightful herb gardens or along the shoreline. Solitaire works on a full board basis with a hearty breakfast buffet, a light lunch and a multi course menu in the evenings. This is truly the place to indulge yourself and melt in to the stunning New Zealand landscape.
