The rooms within the lodge are slightly more modest, but have the added advantage of a separate communal living area and kitchen, opening out to views of the valley, making this a great option for families or couples travelling together.

The main lodge houses a timber-panelled library, with historic Māori artworks adorning the walls. Curl up here with a novel beside the blazing fire, or watch the swirling stream as it flows past the lodge. There is also a stylish games room, complete with antique billiard table and memorabilia from the pioneering days. The conservatory and courtyards provide perfect locations for enjoying the morning sun with your breakfast, and the chef provides a four-course menu each evening in the licensed dining room. To maximise your enjoyment of this beautiful location, many activities are available; there are seven trout streams, four lakes, over 70 kilometres of hiking trails, mountain bike riding, horse riding, archery and four wheel drive trips — you may never want to leave!
