Belmond Sanctuary Lodge

Belmond Sanctuary Lodge

Machu Picchu, Peru

Situated just outside the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, the Sanctuary Lodge has 31 classically decorated rooms and an excellent restaurant. All rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi, minibar, satellite TV and DVD player. The Superior rooms offer king size or twin beds and views of an inner courtyard or access to a private patio with a sitting area. To the front of the hotel are Mountain View rooms, whilst two suites offer prime views of the surrounding mountains and also have a separate indoor seating area and bedroom.

There are some lovely gardens at the hotel where you can find a great variety of native plants and flowers, including orchids depending on the season. This area is also a great place to see a variety of hummingbirds.

The hotel has two restaurants. The Tinkuy Buffet Restaurant offers a daily lunch buffet that is open to the guests of the lodge and visitors to Machu Picchu, whereas the Tampu Restaurant and Bar offers dishes from its international or Peruvian à la carte menu. In the evening, after the crowds have left for the day, the Tampu Restaurant turns into a fine and intimate restaurant with capacity for just 72 people.
