Birkenhead House

Birkenhead House, Whale Coast, South Africa

Our rating: Deluxe

Birkenhead House is a beautiful haven up on the cliffs overlooking Walker's Bay. Only a few minutes walk to the nearby beaches below the rim-flow pool, the Birkenhead provides absolute luxury and incredible views across the bay. There are eleven spacious and individually appointed en-suite rooms that are a mix of modern and antique decor. The house is found in upper class residential area on the outskirts of Hermanus and its sandy walls confine superb interiors. If you choose to dine elsewhere, it is a short drive to the main town and its restaurants.

Birkenhead is a magical getaway and even more so during the calving season of the southern right whales, where the whales come close to the shore.

    • Hermanus Beach Villa, Hermanus

      Hermanus Beach Villa

This attractive villa has the charm and atmosphere of a private beachside home, providing a peaceful, intimate base for your time in Hermanus. Spend time whale watching from your private balcony, relax on the beach or head into town to browse Hermanus’ shops and restaurants.

    • Second floor with sea view, Villa Blu, Hermanus

      Villa Blu

Whilst Villa Blu is slightly out of Hermanus and set back from the beach we feel it is a great base for the area as taxis can be arranged for the evening and it is just a short walk down to the beach to see the whales.
