Argentina is a country of such diverse environments, from glaciers to cities, mountains to jungle. One of its highlights is the majestic Iguazú Falls. One of the natural wonders of the world, nothing prepares you for the first time you encounter their sheer power and beauty. The many trails and viewing balconies allow you to appreciate the scale and spectacle of the falls and often offer sightings of coati, toucans and other wildlife along the way. Alternatively, get up close to the falls on a boat ride to feel the full force of Iguazú — but be prepared to get wet.
Abigail, Latin America Specialist
My love of travel started at an early age, and developed hand in hand with my passion for languages and culture. I was always drawn to Latin America, with its imposing scenery and rich history. I would imagine myself climbing mountains and crossing diverse landscapes to discover lost Inca cities and Maya ruins.
After graduating with a BA in Modern Languages and having lived and volunteered in France, Italy and South Africa, I took off on my biggest adventure, backpacking through Central and South America. I rode with gauchos, learned to salsa and trekked to waterfalls and ruins, tasting delicious food along the way.
On returning home I started working in travel, and since joining Audley I have returned to Argentina and Chile to revisit some of the places I loved most and experience many new ones, including magical Patagonia.
I can’t wait to share my knowledge of these two incredible countries with you.

Set in the historical core of Valparaiso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Casa Higueras is a 1920s mansion converted into a characterful hotel. It is tucked away in the hills of Cerro Alegre and nowhere matches its views of the city's brightly-painted buildings, vibrant street art and crystal blue sea. Surrounded by terraced gardens, the hotel offers great comfort and service, as well as an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi. The restaurant, a highlight of the hotel, offers delicious food, local Chilean wines and fantastic sunset views from its rooftop terrace.
I'll never forget when…
Surrounded by crisp whites and clear blues, I climbed the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentine Patagonia with a guide. On the way, we paused to see deep crevasses and to hear the creaking and cracking of the glacier — the only one left in the world that is still advancing rather than retreating. I felt completely in awe and yet entirely at peace witnessing the views from the top. When the hike was over, we went to see an ice cave that sparkled and glittered like crystal and cast shadows of deep blue. I felt like I was in another world.
