I left England for Melbourne in Australia and spent 13 years living in Oz. Finally, I decided to leave my job at one of the big Australasian banks and take the long road home. Since then I've toured South America and in the last two years have visited Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. I've trekked the Inca Trail in Peru, hiked through Torres del Paine in Chile and snorkeled with marine iguanas in the Galapagos.
Since joining Audley I have returned to Argentina and explored some of Brazil's best destinations. The otherworldly ice caves of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina and horse riding through metre-deep wetlands in the northern Pantanal of Brazil were just some of the many highlights of the trip. I also got to indulge my love of dancing with zumba, salsa and bachata sessions along the way.
I can't wait to share the thrill of South America with you all.
I'll never forget when…
In order to reach the remote Juma Amazon Lodge I had to take a one-hour speed boat ride from the banks of the River Blowfish to my private bungalow on stilts. I had left the Pantanal at 4am that morning and the sun was now setting over the vast rainforest canopy. My senses were alive with the noise of the birds, monkeys and the breeze in the trees as we waved to passing local canoes and the school ‘bus’ boat. Gliding along the silky glass river, I absorbed everything I could about the Amazon way of life. It brought a tear to my eye.
