Finca Cortesin

Finca Cortesin

Costa del Sol, Spain

A luxurious hacienda-style property surrounded by expansive gardens and one of Spain’s best golf courses, Finca Cortesin offers the highest levels of comfort and service. Looking down to the Mediterranean from its vantage point in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja to the west of Marbella, the hotel has been artfully designed with great attention to detail.

Inside, you’ll find sumptuous furniture, Andalusian-style courtyards and reclaimed stone flooring from a former Portuguese monastery. The 67 rooms are spacious and bright, with high-quality fabrics lining the beds and framing the large windows. The majority also have their own balcony or patio area.

The hotel’s main restaurant, El Jardín de Lutz, serves an à la carte breakfast (with tables in the gardens in warmer weather). Its dinner menu leans on traditional Spanish classics with a modern twist. Kabuki Raw is the hotel’s Michelin-starred, open-kitchen Japanese restaurant.

Aside from its two outdoor pools, the hotel has an expansive spa with a heated indoor saltwater pool, thermal baths, treatment rooms and a gym. For a round of golf, the Finca Cortesin clubhouse is opposite reception. Five minutes from the hotel by private shuttle is the beach club and another outdoor pool, a beachfront restaurant and Balinese-style loungers in summer.

OUR OPINION:

A refined and elegant hotel, we love the Finca Cortesin’s tranquil atmosphere and leafy grounds. It’s a rare, unspoiled haven in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

Situated on the Costa del Sol, about 40 minutes west of Marbella, between Estepona and Sotogrande, the Finca Cortesin holds a commanding position in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean. An ideal base for relaxing or exploring farther afield, the hotel is just over an hour from Ronda and about two and a half hours from Granada or Seville.

Food and drink

The hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Kabuki Raw, holds one Michelin star and invites you to watch the chef at work as he masterfully combines Japanese tradition with Mediterranean flare in the open kitchen. The main restaurant, El Jardín de Lutz, serves an à la carte menu for breakfast and dinner, and you’ll find further choice at the bar in the beach club, which serves Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails on the waterfront.

The hotel spa offers traditional Thai wellness treatments in a large complex where you also have use of a heated saltwater indoor pool and thermal baths. You can also book sessions with a personal trainer in the hotel’s gym. A complimentary shuttle runs to and from the hotel’s beach club, where you can relax on a lounger and enjoy a drink by the outdoor pool. Ranked as one of the best golf courses in Spain, you can also enjoy the Finca Cortesin’s demanding par 72 championship-quality course or book lessons at the Jack Nicklaus Coaching Studio.
