Mwagusi is a superb little camp on the northern bank of the seasonal Mwagusi Sand River. There are 12 large safari tents shaded by reed and thatch, spaced along the banks of the boulder strewn river.

At the back of each tent there is a large stone-walled bathroom with mkeka mats, hot showers, basin and flush toilets. The tents are spacious and comfortable and have large shady verandas at the front with big comfy armchairs on a sand floor. It's the perfect spot to while away the afternoon watching the birds hopping about in the trees above you, and in the dry season, elephant wander along the river bed to dig for water.

Food is superb at Mwagusi and served either in the reed and thatch dining room or more frequently, out in the open. Fresh cinnamon rolls are baked each day for breakfast, there are tasty light lunches and dinner is often eaten under the stars in the sandy river bed.

Activities at Mwagusi are very well organised. It is possible to enjoy half and full day game drives in open 4x4s. Overall, Mwagusi is a magical camp and ideally situated in the heart of the park. It's located in an excellent position for game viewing and large herds of elephant are never far away.
