Four Seasons Resort

Koh Samui, Thailand

Nestled among tropical coconut palms, the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is an away-from-it-all hillside resort. The location on the north shore of Koh Samui has views across the coastline and provides a secluded setting for spending a few days away from the rest of the world.

Spacious Thai villas are surrounded by lush tropical gardens in an old preserved coconut grove or are a stone's throw from the beach, and offer the ultimate in comfort, elegance and seclusion.

OUR OPINION:

This is without doubt one of the best five-star properties on Koh Samui in a very enviable location. The resort's villas, and facilities, have sweeping views out over their private beach out into the Gulf of Thailand.

Rooms

All 61 one-bedroom villas have their own spacious outdoor deck with daybed, small dining area and an infinity-edge plunge pool. The bathrooms are extremely well proportioned and well appointed with specially designed baths positioned for a relaxing soak with views over the palms and out to sea. The property also has 15 residences for guests looking for a fully equipped home along with the traditional Four Seasons service and amenities.

Location

With views out toward the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan and the Angthong National Marine Park, the Four Seasons Koh Samui has an enviable location on the northwestern tip of the island. Being located on a hill it is necessary to move around the resort by a golf buggy. Walking is not recommended as there are some very steep paths which can be hazardous, especially if it has been raining.

Food and drink

The resort boasts two restaurants. Lan Tania, which is perched on the hillside, specialises in Thai and Italian cuisine and you can choose to dine while taking in the views on the outdoor terrace or inside in air-conditioned comfort. Pla Pla is a more casually-styled restaurant by the beachside and offers a wide range of food from freshly caught fish to more Western-style comfort food. For a more laid back option you have Koh Bar with canapés and CoCoRum — the hotel's very own rum vault.

Families

For families the hotel boasts Kids For All Seasons, which is a complimentary programme with a variety of games and outdoor activities at The Tree House, children from 4 to 12 years old are welcome between 9am and 7pm every day. Activities include Thai cookery, Muay Thai, spa for kids, volleyball, tennis, as well as the board game library.

Facilities and activities

For those who may like to try yoga there is a dedicated pavilion open from sunrise to sunset. For days when you may wish to venture away from your private pool there is a beautiful golden sand beach to relax on. There is also an infinity pool on the beach for those who prefer a refreshing dip in fresh water than the turquoise waters of the sea. If you want to have a more energetic start to the day then you go to the hotel's Muay Thai ring for a workout.

Spa Facilities

Among the trees on the hillside are five spa pavilions which offer a wealth of treatments for mind, body and beauty for those wishing to indulge themselves. The serene views over the Gulf of Thailand and the sounds of the jungle is the perfect place to relax.
