A large, modern hotel with a wide range of facilities, the Grande Centre Point Ratchadamri offers excellent value for money, easy access to central Bangkok as well as a tranquil retreat from the buzzing city streets.

The palatial lobby sets the tone for the hotel with an seemingly unending expanse of white marble, mirrored columns and a soaring ceiling. The grand surroundings are matched by thoughtful and efficient service which belies the fact that the hotel has 497 rooms. The apartments and suites blend modern amenities with classical decor, shuttered windows and some local touches in the large-scale, sepia-toned photos on the walls.

The hotel also offers a good range of facilities with a large outdoor pool surrounded by lush planting, a children's play area, a gym and the tranquil RarinJina Spa. The restaurant, Mesamis Café, offers authentic Thai dishes alongside Chinese, Japanese, Italian and French cuisine, though it should be noted that no alcohol is served.

The hotel is set in one of Bangkok's thriving shopping areas with Siam Square, Siam Paragon and the MBK Center all within easy walking distance. There is also a BTS Skytrain station close by, making the rest of the city easily accessible.

Rooms

Predominantly white with touches of pale, earthy tones, the rooms are bright and spacious with the minimalist contemporary design lifted by large-scale, sepia-toned photographs of historic life on the river. Many rooms offer sweeping views of the city, while the Deluxe Suites have a separate living and dining area and a full kitchen. Bathrooms are sleek and modern with separate bath and rain shower. All rooms feature complimentary snacks, soft drinks and Wi-Fi.

Location

Ideally located within walking distance of major shopping malls, restaurants and bars and just five minutes from the nearest BTS Skytrain station, The Sukhothai offers easy access to Bangkok's finest attractions. Siam Square, Siam Paragon and the MBK mall are all close by, as is the Erawan Shrine.

Food and drink

The Mesamis Café offers a wide range of buffet items at breakfast, lunch and dinner with options including authentic Thai dishes, and classic Chinese, Japanese, Italian and French cuisine. The restaurant does not sell alcohol however, though guests can bring their own alcohol to their rooms. Guests will also find a wide range of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Families

There are good facilities for families with a children's play area and an entertainment room which can be booked to watch films.

Facilities and activities

The large outdoor pool is set between mature palms trees and makes a tranquil spot to relax. There is also a well-equipped gym and a wide range of treatments on offer at the Rarinjinda Spa. Guests can also use the sauna and Jacuzzi in the wellness area.

Our opinion

The hotel offers excellent value for money, with great facilities and a location that allows you to enjoy Bangkok's renowned shopping area while having convenient access to the city's BTS Skytrain. As with most hotels in Bangkok it is a very large but this does not stop it from offering a consistent level of friendly service.
