Hill village in the rice terraces, Banaue

Trek to Batad

Trek to Batad, The Philippines

Batad is a village deep in the mountains that is known for its rice terraces which have been built in concentric circles down the mountain sides like an amphitheater with the village right in the middle. It is an unusual sight.

The trek to Batad takes 3 hours one way and passes through other rice terraces, villages, river crossings, and a rainforest. Upon reaching Batad, enjoy the moment of accomplishment of the trek, visit the village and marvel at the clever way with which the terraces were built.
