The highest monastery in the world, at 4,980 metres, and adjacent to the northern base camp for Everest, Rongbuk Monastery offers simple dorms and shared, squat toilets (outside and one very unclean indoor toilet for cold mornings) for those who have made the trip across the rough terrain from Shegar.
You'll find any other travellers staying in the area enjoying tea or a meal in the friendly restaurant.
