The Georgian Hotel
Built in 1933, during the peak of California's coastal expansion, The Georgian Hotel still retains the charm and personality of its heyday when Hollywood bosses, screenwriters and movie stars alike flocked here for its seclusion and oceanfront exclusivity.
Brought up to date with modern amenities and within walking distance of the Palisades Park, Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade, the Georgian boasts remarkable views over the Pacific, and offers 84 stylishly appointed rooms and suites, many of which are ocean facing.
Air-conditioned throughout, rooms feature minibar, tea/coffee-making facilities, cable TV and MP3-compatible alarm clock. The Veranda restaurant and lounge offers a tapas-style menu, as well as its signature Art Deco martini, the Georgini.
The guest rooms are all similarly appointed with a subtle nod to the Art Deco era and decorated in a neutral palette with bright textiles. Rooms are air conditioned and feature Wi-Fi, LCD TV, mini bar, coffee maker and bathrobes. Suites have a separate lounge area and sofa bed. Some rooms and suites have views across the ocean.
The Georgian Hotel is located overlooking the Pacific, directly on Ocean Boulevard and just a short distance from the entrance to Santa Monica pier. It's only a few minutes’ walk from some of Santa Monica's most well-known attractions including the shopping district of Third Street Promenade and the Farmer's Market. There's a variety of bars and restaurants just a short distance away.
Food and Drink
The relaxed Veranda restaurant is a great spot for people watching along Ocean Boulevard. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes from coastal Californian specialities to more global fare. Brunch is a popular local choice and the sunny restaurant veranda is the place to take afternoon tea, or watch the sunset with a cocktail from the lounge bar.
Facilities and Activities
The hotel has valet parking (for a charge) as well as a 24-hour fitness room and business facilities.
What the Georgian lacks in space it makes up for in character, as although the rooms are not as big as other hotels in the area they feature original Art Deco decor and authentic fittings. This is also one of the best locations for access to the beach, the shops and the restaurants — everything is a short stroll away.
