With their outdoor gyms and volleyball nets, Monica’s wide, toffee-shaded sands are a hive of activity. Surfing is a huge part of this active, sporty beach culture and the Kapowui Surf Club is located right on the oceanfront. In a private surf lesson with the school’s certified instructors, you’ll receive coaching that’s tailored to your level, whether you’re a total beginner or a veteran looking to hone your skills.

Lessons begin on dry land before moving into the water. All lessons cover board handling, positioning , paddling and pop-up techniques, as well as surfing etiquette (such as how not to interfere with other riders’ surfing). You’ll also learn some fun surfing terminology, how to stay safe in the water, and how to read the waves. The goal is to help you to catch a wave during the lesson, even if you’re a total beginner. There’s even a chance that you’ll spot dolphins while you’re out in the ocean.

The boards you’ll use can have GoPro cameras attached to them, so you can leave with some footage of you in action on the board.

Lessons can be arranged for the morning or afternoon. We suggest the one and a half hour lesson, but talk to your specialist for further details.
