Hotel Wailea

Hotel Wailea

Maui, The USA

This adults-only Relais & Chateaux hotel is spread over 60,702 sq m (653,390 sq ft) of typical Hawaiian gardens; perfectly manicured with an abundance of beautiful tropical flowers, and even an on-site vegetable patch! Perched high on the hillside this property offers guests not only an element of peace and tranquillity but also incredible panoramic views over the ocean and three Hawaiian Islands.

Built using natural materials and custom Hawaiian Ohia wood crafted cabinetry, each of the stunning suites blend perfectly into the immaculate gardens. The décor encompasses the feel of a modern beach house with whitewashed oak boards and coral stone accent walls.

The award-winning restaurant serves fresh Mediterranean inspired cuisine in a fun and relaxing environment, using organic ingredients grown onsite as well as from local farms and fishermen on the island.

Hotel Wailea is much more relaxed than the opulence of Wailea's other hotels. This property is wonderfully kept, with its secluded location and emphasis on relaxation making it one of Maui's most romantic spots.

Food and drink

Dining at Hotel Wailea is an exquisite alfresco affair with the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea set among the tropical forest under glowing lanterns. The views over the islands and ocean from the second lanai (balcony) make the setting an intimate, relaxing experience. Executive chef, Jonathan De Paz, uses fresh ingredients from local farmers and fisherman that aim to represent the colours, scents and tastes of Maui.

Dinner is served as either a three or five course prix fixe fine dining menu and dishes can be adjusted to all dietary requirements.

The Treehouse experience is one of Maui’s best kept dining experiences. Celebrate a special occasion with a seven-course dinner and perfect wine pairings, all prepared by a private chef. The Treehouse is romantic and peaceful, shaded by canopies of huge mango trees and offers sunset views over the vast Pacific Ocean.

The Birdcage Bar serves Japanese inspired craft cocktails and light bites in an open-air lounge with sweeping views over the ocean.

Open from 11am to 5pm for a relaxed poolside lunch, The Cabanas offers signature pressed juices and fresh smoothies alongside light savoury dishes.

Facilities and activities

There is a free shuttle bus that will take you to the Wailea beach and nearby town, or you can choose to enjoy a 20-minute walk to the beach from the hotel. Facilities onsite include a spa with hot tub and waterfall shower, an outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness studio offering complimentary yoga and group exercise classes, and a tennis club.

A complimentary outrigger canoeing experience is offered to guests every Wednesday morning at the beach, as well as free tropical mixology classes every Sunday morning at The Cabanas so you can learn to make your own exotic cocktails.
