The original building on the site of the Bluenose Inn was constructed in 1884 as the summer residence of Mrs. William Morris Hunt, an artist's widow. The grounds feature an outdoor heated swimming pool, garden paths and panoramic views of Frenchman Bay.

There are a selection of guestrooms and suites at the hotel, ranging from standard king rooms to premium rooms with ocean views or Bar Island views. Most rooms have balconies, but some are shared rather than private. All room types are surprisingly spacious, with marble bathrooms and in-room coffee makers as well as large-screen televisions and desk space.
This hotel is a good option for families as some rooms have pull-out sofa beds, perfect for young children.

The hotel is perfectly situated for strolling the streets of Bar Harbor and also for taking boat tours right from the harborfront.

Not forgetting why you're in Bar Harbor in the first place, Acadia National Park is just a 25-minute drive away and hundreds of easy, moderate and difficult hiking trails await your exploration.
The hotel has an excellent location with ocean-views and is just steps away from shops and restaurants, but it can be busy at times due to the size of the hotel.
