Just a short drive from Las Vegas, the Red Rock Canyon is a complete contrast to the bright city lights. Tour in an open-air jeep to get off road and explore.
Starting at the Visitor Center, you will be introduced to the different habitats through the canyon, as well as unique geological features and wildlife. Your guide will drive you past the dominating Keystone Thrust, a massive wall of rock over 900 m (3,000 ft) tall. Covered in pictographs carved into the rock, it was an important pace for Native American tribes who once lived here.
You’ll head north to the Calico Hills, vibrant fossilised sand dunes which seem to change colour throughout the day. The tinajas (pools of water) dotted across them are idea for spotting wildlife. Your guide will stop at a variety of points for you to get out and explore — Red Rock overlook is a good opportunity for panoramic views.
The tour will finish with an adventurous drive along the Rocky Gap road, only accessible by 4x4s. Once a pioneer trail, the jeep follows the grooves in the trail created by years of wagon wheels.
