This traditional, riverside ryokan offers the visitor to Takayama a taste of bygone Japan. The owners have kept much of the original style from the time the ryokan was built at the start of the last century, and have filled it with artefacts and objects representing traditional Japanese life.
In keeping with many ryokan there is a beautifully tended Japanese garden to enjoy, and the riverside location makes a pleasant base from which to explore the town.
The hosts are tremendously friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home, serving fantastic food as well.

Takayama Visit
After exploring the old streets and museums of Sanmachi District, head out on the trail around the many temples and shrines of Teramachi, before strolling through Shiroyama Park. You should also attempt to fit in a visit to the open-air museum of Hida Folk Village.
