What our specialists say...
This is an ideal trip for those who want to experience Kenya at a time when there are few other visitors and there are some serious bargains to be had! The green season is a great time for safari as the game reserves are lush and green and not nearly as busy as in the peak season. On the coast, aside from the odd tropical shower, the weather is warm, and the diving and snorkelling are excellent. The itinerary starts with a few days on the shores of the stunning Lake Naivasha and then moves on to a three day safari in the Masai Mara, followed by five nights of relaxation on Zanzibar, one of region's most beautiful beach destinations.
We recommend this trip for:
- Lake Naivasha
- Masai Mara
- Zanzibar Airport
- Zanzibar Island

Day 2 Lake Naivasha
This morning you will arrive in Nairobi. You will be greeted by our local representative and begin your overland journey to Lake Naivasha. This is a stunning road trip and there is lots of opportunity for you to stop for photos. The journey will take approximately three hours. On arrival in Lake Naivasha you will settle into Loldia House and after a hearty lunch you will have the afternoon and evening to enjoy safari activities.
Day 3 Lake Naivasha
Day 4 Masai Mara
You will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara today. On arrival, you will be met by a driver-guide from Karen Blixen Camp who will take you on a game drive back to the camp to settle in. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, it is likely there will be time for a full afternoon game drive to start exploring this fantastic region.
Day 5 Masai Mara
On safari in the Masai Mara - you can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives from your camp today. As the camp is situated in a private conservancy within the Mara the number of camps and vehicles here is strictly limited giving you by far the best safari experience away from the busier areas of the park.
Day 6 Masai Mara
Day 7 Zanzibar Island
You can enjoy a final morning game drive today as you head to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi you will be greeted and transferred to the international airport ready to fly on to Zanzibar. A driver and private vehicle will be waiting to escort you across the island to the beautiful palm-fringed East Coast.
Day 8 Zanzibar Island
At leisure at Breezes Beach Club - you can spend your time here doing as much or as little as you like. If you want to relax, there's a lovely spa where you can enjoy a massage, and there are plenty of places to relax in the sun or shade by the pool or on the beach. If you're feeling more active, you can enjoy diving and snorkelling on the nearby reefs, sailing, or windsurfing.
Day 9 Zanzibar Island
One of our favourite things to do in Zanzibar is to visit one of the small-scale spice farms on the island - it's a really hands-on experience, tasting and smelling the spices for which the island is famous.
Day 10 Zanzibar Island
Another area to explore on Zanzibar is the enchanting Jozani Forest where you can see the rare red Kirk's colobus monkeys. These monkeys are endemic to the island and are really entertaining to watch leap and play in the trees!
Day 11 Zanzibar Island
For something completely different to the beach, you could head into Stone Town today - the town is located on the west coast and is a busy and bustling town. You can hire a guide to help you explore the narrow alleyways and cobbled streets, learning about the town's unique history as a centre of colonial exploration and of the East African slave-trade. It's also a great opportunity to pick up any souvenirs.
