Day 1 Mexico City
International outbound flight , Mexico City
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Mexico City. When you arrive in Mexico City you will be met by your guide who will drive you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time there may be time to head out and explore from your hotel.
Day 2 Mexico City
Day 3 Mexico City
Day 4 El Fuerte
A domestic flight will take you to Los Mochis on the coast of the Gulf of California. Here you will be met and driven to the small town of El Fuerte. There will be time for a walking tour of the town which was once an important trading hub for the mines in the region.
Day 5 Cerocahui
Today you will board El Chepe, the train that will take you through the Copper Canyon. On the first day of this truly spectacular journey you will travel to Bahuichivo at an altitude of around 1,800m above sea level. You will be met at the station and driven to Cerocahui, a tiny village where forestry is the main industry. It is situated in the Canyon itself and has access to a stunning view point where three canyons meet.
Day 6 Barrancas/Divisadero
This morning you will have a tour to that stunning view point before boarding the train again. You continue on to Barrancas which is near the highest point at 2,350m above sea level. From the station there will be a shuttle to the well named Hotel Mirador.
Day 7 Barrancas/Divisadero
Day 8 Chihuahua
This morning is free for you to relax or explore further and in the afternoon you will board the train to Chihuahua. This section of track rises and falls through mountainous scenery as you ultimately descend to around 1,600m. Leaving the train for the final time you will be met and driven to your hotel.
Day 9 Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
Day 10 Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
Time at leisure. There are plenty of water based activities that can be arranged here or you can head inland and keep equally active if you want so please do let us know if you prefer to keep going. If not then sit back and enjoy the relaxing coastal town.
