Ulaanbaatar offers a range of modern, international hotels whose standards approach those of more developed nations. Out of the city, however, options are far more limited. The lack of developed infrastructure across most of the country means that camping in traditional nomadic gers is often the only option. These offer a truly Mongolian style of accommodation, giving you an insight into the nomadic way of life.

Most of the popular destinations offer semi-permanent encampments with modern facilities, though the further you venture off the beaten track the more basic they become.
