Riad Al Massarah
Riad Al Massarah, Marrakesh, Morocco
Riad Al Massarah is a charming riad tucked away down an alleyway in the Bab Doukkala area of the old medina. The property has been beautifully restored with natural, light colours, which give it an airy, contemporary and open feel. There are just six rooms, all of which are cleverly designed with an interesting fusion of old Moroccan and modern European influences. Five of these are on the first floor, with the remaining one just off the spacious roof terrace.
The tranquil, intimate main courtyard on the ground floor boasts a small pool and a comfortable salon with a library and open fire. On either side of this there is a small hammam and massage room, and an accessible kitchen where informal cookery courses are offered. The owners of the property pay particular care to the environment, installing solar panels on the roof to help heat the water in the riad.
