What our specialists say...
This is a comprehensive self-drive trip around Namibia's main highlights but tailored specifically to families with children. The trip begins at a family friendly guesthouse in Windhoek with a good sized pool and relaxed atmosphere. Extra beds, cots, toys and children's books are provided by the owners who have young children themselves. From here you drive via the Naukluft Mountains to Sossusvlei. Here you can all climb dunes, play in the sand and then cool off in the lodge swimming pool. From Sossusvlei you head to the coast to Swakopmund. A very family friendly town, you'll stay in a small guesthouse with good sized garden and climbing frame. You can choose from a number of family friendly activities such as kayaking with seals, boat trips to view seals, dolphins and flamingos and trips into the sand dunes to catch lizards and geckos. Older children might enjoy dune boarding or quad-biking and younger ones going to the aquarium or playing on the beach. The final stop is Etosha where you'll stay in a fenced rest camp in the heart of the park. There is a large swimming pool, variety of eating options from catered buffet to barbeques and a floodlit waterhole where you can sit and watch game to your heart's content. The entire trip can be tailored further to cater for very young or older children - just ask the Audley team, many of whom have children themselves and can help you tailor the perfect trip.
