Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Bergen. On arrival at Bergen Airport, meet your private driver, who will transfer you into the city to your centrally located hotel. Once you have settled in, embark on a private walking tour of Bergen, where you’ll explore the picturesque waterfront area, vibrant Brygge (the old town), and make your way up Mount Fløyen by funicular for spectacular views.

  • This morning, meet your private hiking guide and driver and leave the city to spend half a day exploring nearby Mount Ulriken on foot. As you walk, your guide will talk to you about the local area’s geography and point out flora and fauna of note. The views from the top are outstanding in good weather. Spend the rest of the day exploring Bergen at your leisure. We suggest visiting one of the city’s excellent museums or relaxing in a waterfront café.

  • Pick up your rental car today and drive to Flåm, on the shore of Aurlandsfjord. Spend some time exploring this charming waterside village. Later, board a Zodiac boat and embark on a high-speed journey through the fjord and out to Sognefjord, Norway’s deepest and longest fjord. Once you’re back on dry land, continue your drive through the mountains, crossing Sognefjord by ferry to reach your hotel in the Lustrafjord region.

  • Head into the vast Jostedalsbreen National Park today, meet your small group and get outfitted for a hike onto Nigardsbreen Glacier. Nigardsbreen is part of Jostedalsbreen Glacier, the largest glacier in continental Europe. You’ll explore blue tunnels, towering ice structures, and delicately beautiful caves with your professional guide and group.

  • Continue your road trip through the fjords as you drive onward to Loen, situated on the shore of Innvikfjorden. In the afternoon, join a small group and head into the mountains on an exciting via ferrata. You’ll be led up Mount Hoven, attached to a thick metal cable that allows safe and secure access to more exposed areas. The views are spectacular, and after reaching the top, you can relax with a cable car ride back down the mountain.

  • Drive to Geiranger, stopping along the way at viewpoints overlooking Geirangerfjord and the surrounding mountain panorama. This afternoon, embark on a Zodiac boat trip out onto the fjord, the best way to view the many impressive waterfalls cascading from the towering cliffs above.

    Stay at Hotel Utsikten
  • Spend a few hours exploring the region and its many outstanding viewpoints on e-bikes. You’ll be provided with maps and given some suggested routes, but the time is your own.

    Stay at Hotel Utsikten
  • Leave Geiranger and drive on the famed Geiranger-Trollstigen Scenic Route. This leads north from Geiranger, ascending the mountains via a series of switchbacks. You’ll encounter two impressive sections of these on the journey, which both offer far-reaching views. The drive is exciting, taking you through some of Norway’s most attractive scenery. Once you leave the Trollstigen road, you’ll be journeying alongside various fjords and lakes as you travel west into Ålesund.

  • Embark on another road trip today, taking you north on the Atlantic Ocean Road. This traverses the coastline, crossing between islands and skerries on ‘floating’ bridges, which are architectural marvels in themselves. You’ll pass fishing villages and have plenty of opportunities to stop and explore this scenic landscape before returning to Ålesund via a quicker inland route. Once back in the city, return your car.

  • Meet your private guide this morning and take a walking tour of Ålesund. You’ll learn about its striking Art Nouveau architecture and visit many of the city’s highlights. In the afternoon, join a small group to kayak through the waterways around Ålesund’s many islands.

  • Today, you’ll head out to sea with a small group on a wildlife sea safari in a fast-paced Zodiac boat. Porpoises and seals live in the area, as well as a multitude of bird species. You’ll also visit nearby Runde Island, known for its plethora of eagles and puffins (during the summer months). The rest of the day is at your leisure to continue exploring Ålesund. We recommend hiking to the top of the ‘city mountain’, situated in the heart of the city and providing excellent views of the streets below as well as the surrounding islands.

  • You will be picked up from your hotel this morning by your private driver and taken to the airport in time for your onward flight. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
