Day 1 International outbound flight

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Durban.

Day 2 Durban


Arriving in Durban today you will be met at the airport by your private driver and whisked off to your charming guesthouse close to Florida Road, home to many great restaurants. Once you are settled in you will have the rest of the day to relax or begin exploring. Depending on your time of arrival you could head to one of the beaches nearby or head out to enjoy the local Bunny Chow delicacy!

Day 3 Durban


Today you have a full day at leisure in Durban, you could head to the Indian Ocean beach or learn about the Zulu culture at the Shakaland Cultural Village.

Day 4 The Midlands

After breakfast this morning you will drive into the Midlands for your stay at Granny Mouse your base for the next three days. At Granny Mouse you will be able to enjoy a host of activities, why not head for a treatment in the spa! Or stretch your legs with a walk in the reserve viewing wildlife and plenty of birds!

Today you can spend your time relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery.

Day 6 The Midlands

Today you could enjoy activities in the local area which you could arrange with the property directly, such as golf, river walks and horse riding.

Day 7 The Battlefields

The Midlands , The Battlefields

Departing from the Midlands today, you will head to the Battlefields where you will spend the next three nights. The Battlefields are historically significant due to the events during the Anglo-Boer war in the 19th Century. Your accommodation here is a family ran lodge owned by the Rattray family who offer amazing tours and also run the David Rattray foundation which offers charitable contributions to the local Zulu people.

Day 8 The Battlefields

Explore the Battlefields today - superb lecturers bring the Anglo-Zulu wars to life. The tours are utterly riveting and very informative. We recommend you start with Isandlwana today and then head to Rorke's Drift tomorrow. These tours are included for you with the great guides at Fugitive's Drift. The order of the tours replicates the events of the fateful day back in 1879.

Day 9 The Battlefields

Enjoy the tour of Rorke's Drift today and learn about this second important battlefield. This tour runs in the afternoon so this morning you could relax by the pool or enjoy a walk in the nature reserve surrounding the lodge which is home to various antelope species you can see!

Day 10 The Drakensberg (North)

The Battlefields , The Drakensberg (North)

Today you will leave the Battlefields and travel to your final base in the stunning Drakensberg Mountains at Montusi. This is a scenic drive and on arrival at Montusi you will enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including the Mont Aux Sources mountain which is were the lodge takes it's name from. This afternoon you could enjoy one of the activities available from the lodge such as Fly fishing or mountain biking.

Day 11 The Drakensberg (North)

The Drakensberg (North)

Today you have a full day to explore the Drakensberg and enjoy the activities on offer from Montusi, such as guided hike and horse-riding. Or if you prefer you could try out some adrenaline activities at the nearby adventure centre. Travelling further into the mountains from Montusi you can even visit the Tugela Falls and hike up the famous Amphitheatre if you are an experienced hiker.

The Drakensberg (North) , International return flight

After a leisurely morning at Montusi, you will drive North to Johannesburg Airport from where you will fly home.

Arrive home today to complete your journey.
