Occupying the middle of the historic crescent from which it takes its name, the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa boasts a broad view of Bath’s skyline and is close to the city’s main sights. Decorated by a local interior designer with elegant furnishings in a country-manor style, this grand property is upscale in every sense and featured in a BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. The 45 rooms are either traditionally designed or more contemporary in style, yet all are luxurious and generous in size.

Uncommonly for a hotel in the heart of the city, the property has a garden. Lavender beds and hidden seating areas create an outdoor retreat, with hammocks to laze in. In the summer, you can enjoy your meal or afternoon tea from the property’s award-winning restaurant there.

Rooms

All large, luxurious and individually thought out, the rooms at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa are decorated in pastel shades with floral accents in a country-manor style. Some are traditional while others are more contemporary, and all are different in their decor. Suites have views overlooking the Royal Crescent or the property’s private gardens and are named after well-known figures such as the fictional hero Sir Percy Blakeney and local architect John Wood.

Location

Set in the middle of the Royal Crescent, one of Bath’s best examples of Georgian architecture, this hotel offers a sweeping bird’s-eye view of Bath’s skyline. No.1 Royal Crescent, a museum that showcases the styles and tastes of the Georgian era, is next door. Bath’s other main sights, including the Jane Austen Centre, the Roman Baths and Thermae Bath Spa, can all be reached on foot in 5 to 15 minutes.

Food and drink

For afternoon tea and dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients, you can dine at the Dower House Restaurant, whose culinary expertise has earned it a triple AA Rosette award.
