Located on the banks of the River Ness, the Glenmoriston Town House Hotel is an attractive riverside property in the heart of Inverness, just a five to ten-minute walk into the middle of the city.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and some have great views across the river to the mountains north of the city. The restaurant, which is popular with locals, is stylish and attractive and serves dishes focusing on the quality of the ingredients. On weekends, a pianist plays for guests in the lounge. The bar is one of the best in the city, where you can choose from 30 gins and over 250 different whiskies.

OUR OPINION:

This is a great-value option right in the heart of Inverness. Despite its B&B-style atmosphere, the hotel provides upmarket accommodation and excellent food.

Rooms

The hotel’s rooms are spread between its main townhouse and adjacent building. Each room is well furnished and has contemporary decor in shades of light brown, russet and white, as well as modern local art on the walls. Townhouse comfort rooms are the smallest, but still spacious enough for two guests. With the townhouse club rooms, you’re offered a choice of a slightly smaller room with riverside views, or a larger one without. Deluxe riverside rooms are the largest category, with a guaranteed river view. These also have an espresso machine and a mini golf putting green. There are tea and coffee-making facilities in all the rooms as well as TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Location

The Glenmoriston Town House Hotel is situated on the banks of the River Ness in central Inverness, just a five to ten-minute walk from Bridge Street, which cuts right through the city’s shopping area. On the opposite bank is the Eden Court Theatre complex, which has a good restaurant in addition to a cinema and theater.

Food and drink

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Contrast Brasserie, the hotel’s elegant wood-paneled restaurant. Food here is excellent, with a focus on simplicity and local ingredients, and the restaurant is popular with local residents. The bar is well known for its extensive selection of different types of whiskies and gins.
