The Dorchester

London, The UK

Even the name ‘The Dorchester’ rings with grandeur and prestige, and this is the impression given the moment you enter the hotel. The marble floors, slender columns, elaborate moldings and heavy brocades of the entrance hall and long hallway are immediately impressive yet welcoming and relaxed. This is The Promenade, the heart of the hotel, where meals and drinks as well as seasonal events and afternoon teas are held. Each of the hotel’s other dining establishments have their own style and accolades, from the elegant, minimalist three Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse to the vibrant China Tang.

The spacious rooms and suites are beautifully furnished with simple but elegant decor and despite their luxurious, quintessentially British decor, feel inviting and homely.

OUR OPINION:

A beautiful hotel throughout, The Dorchester offers excellence in every aspect.

Rooms

Each of the rooms and suites at The Dorchester is spacious and beautifully appointed with elegant, understated decor in a classical English or chic Art Deco style. Windows overlook a quiet courtyard, Mayfair or Hyde Park. Every room has its own small entrance hallway and offers air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi as well as a flat-screen TV and Italian marble bathroom.

Although lower room categories feature a walk-in shower or shower over bath configuration, Executive Deluxe King rooms and above offer a separate bath and shower. The spacious suites include a welcome pot of tea, a bottle of champagne and fresh flowers.

Location

Centrally located on Park Lane, The Dorchester is only a short walk from Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and the shops of Knightsbridge. The nearest tube station is Green Park, and there’s a sizeable taxi area in front of the hotel for cars to pick up and drop off guests after a day’s sightseeing.

Food and drink

Guests can experience Michelin-starred fine dining at Alain Ducasse, deluxe Cantonese cuisine at China Tang, top-quality meat and fish dishes at The Grill, or sample an informal menu or exquisite afternoon tea in The Promenade. For lighter fare, Parcafé is the hotel’s artisan coffee shop, while Spatisserie, housed within the expansive spa complex, serves light lunches and afternoon teas.

Facilities and activities

The Dorchester’s spa covers a vast area beneath the hotel, presenting an entire complex of relaxation and pampering. Luxury beauty and aromatherapy treatments are offered, in addition to the services of a hair salon, barber shop, nail bar and fitness studio.
