These beautiful plantation inspired condos are surrounded by tropical gardens on the south side of Kauaʻi. Fragrant flowers line the landscaped lawns on the edge of Poʻipū Beach with its white sand and shady palm trees.
Guests can choose between one- or two-bedroom condos with either a garden or ocean view. These are excellent for families, larger groups or those that wish to have the independence of a cottage with the service and facilities that the hotel offers.
The hotel offers a wide range of dining options at their three onsite restaurants that are surrounded by lush tropical gardens and overlook beautiful Poʻipū Beach. There are also several other eateries, from fine dining to casual cafés, a short distance away dotted along Poʻipū Beach.
OUR OPINION:
There is a tropical feel to these simple but well maintained condominiums. The decor is a tad old fashioned and there is no air conditioning, but this is nevertheless a good value entry level property. Guests should note that the proximity of amenities will depend on the location of their condominium — for example, garden view condominiums are several minutes’ walk from the beach. The swimming pool at Poʻipū Beach Athletic Club is available for guests’ use, but please note this is across the road from the Kiahuna Plantation Resort condominiums.

Each of the Poʻipū Beach condos benefits from a private lanai (balcony), complete with table and chairs, a full kitchen equipped with microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge and coffee maker, as well as free high speed internet access, a ceiling fan, in-room safe, cable TV, telephone, hair dryer and en suite bathroom. Rather than having air conditioning, the units have been designed to utilise the fresh trade winds, which will ensure you stay cool throughout your stay.
The condos are modelled on beach houses making them light and airy with whitewashed interiors and modern furnishings. Wooden shutters and rattan furnishings give the condos a distinctively Hawaiian feel.
Up to four people can be accommodated in the one-bedroom condos, while the larger two-bedroom units are split level and can fit up to six guests. There are also a number of accessible condos available for those with reduced mobility.
Location
Situated on the southeast coast of Kauaʻi, the fourth largest island in Hawaii, Kiahuna Plantation Resort is close to four stunning sandy beaches for snorkelling, relaxing and kayaking. The start of the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail is right next to the hotel for a fantastic day hike.
Food and drink
There are several dining options throughout the resort including Joe's on the Green at the Kiahuna Golf Club, which serves breakfast and lunch, and Plantation Gardens Restaurant and Bar set in the resort's beautiful torch-lit gardens, which serves Pacific Rim dishes with Hawaiian influences as well as tropical cocktails. There are also barbecue and picnic areas should you prefer a more informal meal alfresco.
Only 24 minutes from the Lihue airport by car, the resort is easily accessible and the closest town of Poʻipū can be reached in a 16-minute walk.
Facilities and activities
If you are feeling active, the nearby Poʻipū Beach Athletic Club has tennis courts, a swimming pool and a fitness centre for you to take advantage of between 6am and 7pm each day.
Both the Kiahuna and the Poʻipū Bay Golf Clubs are just a short distance from the hotel should guests wish to partake in a round of golf during their stay.
