Kalispell enjoys an excellent location, lying just 15 miles north of Flathead Lake and only 30 miles southwest of Glacier National Park.

The town is home to the Hockaday Museum of Art as well as many downtown galleries. During the summer months the town regularly hosts concerts, farmers markets, art fairs and festivals.

Just half an hour's drive to the south lies the remote 28-mile-long Flathead Lake, where herds of bison can be seen at the National Bison Range. However, Glacier National Park is undoubtedly the star attraction of the region, where 2,000 lakes, 1,000 miles of rivers and glacier-packed peaks combine to form a monumental 1.4 million acre wilderness and wildlife haven. The park adjoins Canada's Waterton Lakes National Park and together they form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.

Glacier's many highlights include Lake McDonald, Avalanche Lake and Hidden Lake where walking trails meander through breathtaking scenery. From St. Mary Lake trails lead to the crashing St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls.

In the southeastern corner, Aster Park leads to some of the region's most astounding scenery including Two Medicine Lake, which is framed by ever-receding massifs and offers sublime views of the Sinopah and Rising Wolf Mountains.

Wildlife abounds and grizzly bears, elk and bighorn sheep are found here in abundance. The park's undoubted highlight however, has to be the incredible Going to the Sun Road which, traversed from west to east, creates the illusion of an endless climb.

With monumental mountains framing the windscreen, the spectacular Logan Pass is the climax of this unforgettable drive.
