What our specialists say...
For those of you who enjoy venturing off the beaten track and want to be immersed in the hill tribe culture of Vietnam then this is the perfect trip. Starting in the north, visit the colonial capital, Hanoi, before journeying high into the Tonkinese Alps. The region is awash with colourful ethnic minorities and bustling markets. Long drives and simple accommodation are rewarded with stunning views and a chance to experience undiscovered Vietnam in the more remote mountain villages. Return to Hanoi by train and continue by road to Mai Chau where you will explore more of this fascinating region and its hill tribes.
