Kaingo Camp is situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, at the confluence with the Mwamba and overlooking the water toward the Nsefu sector of the park. Built beneath an old grove of mahogany and ebony trees, there is a noisy pod of hippo in front of the lodge and numerous bee-eaters flit around the river banks.

The dining room is a large brick and thatch building, with a unique bar carved out of an old leadwood tree-trunk. There's a wooden deck over the river which is a perfect spot for relaxing in the afternoons with a book.

Kaingo has four brick and thatch twin bed chalets with mosquito nets and en suite bathrooms. With the addition of shaded decking in front of each chalet and a luxurious outside bath you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the river whilst relaxing in your own private space. There are also two honeymoon suites on the river banks a little further up-stream.

Kaingo's owner and manager, Derek Shenton, is a quiet and gentle person and the lodge has a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Walks, drives and night-drives are all possible as well as a little fishing in the river beside camp.

The camp is also a haven for keen photographers who can make use of the photographic hides which were designed by Derek himself. These hides are superb for getting you close enough to the wildlife to take stunning photos in complete safety and have previously been used by professionals from National Geographic and the BBC.
