Places to visit in St Vincent and the Grenadines

The arcing sweep of 32 islands and cays that make up Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are ideal candidates for Robinson-Crusoe-style escapism. Our Caribbean specialists have explored the archipelago, selecting the islands and hotels that provide the best experiences the country has to offer. Saint Vincent itself is a mountainous island of sweeping bays and wooded valleys, while the village-like capital, Kingstown, is a collection of cobbled streets and 19th-century architecture.

For the best views, hike up to the volcanic caldera of La Soufrière. Bequia is Saint Vincent’s little-visited sister island, where you’re likely to have stretches of its flaxen sand to yourself: aside from the occasional hawksbill turtle. The tiny Palm Island and Petit Saint Vincent offer private island retreats of laid-back seclusion. Wherever you choose to stay, one of the best places to visit is Tobago Cays, a protected marine park with some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean.
