This small, stylish resort offers excellent service and an idyllic location, right on Tubkaak Beach. A great deal of thought went into the design of the buildings, constructed in the style of southern Thailand, and no trees were felled for construction. This means that from the sea, the resort is barely visible.

The resort is small and intimate, with lots of honeymooners and couples, so the place is calm and quiet; most people are there to enjoy the glorious surroundings.

You would expect service to be friendly being in Thailand, but at Tubkaak they also add in charm and efficiency.

OUR OPINION:

This charming resort is one of Audley's favorites, with a lovely setting, beautiful design and good facilities. The peaceful location means it's perfect for those looking for quiet seclusion.

Rooms

The beautifully designed rooms blend contemporary and Thai style to offer stylish and relaxing interiors, comfortable facilities and outdoor bathrooms with sunken baths.

All rooms have a terrace, air-conditioning, outdoor sunken bathtub and separate shower, fridge, DVD player, TV, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Classic Tubkaak design features include wood paneling, silk cushions and unique light fittings.

Location

The hotel is set on the Tubkaak Beach, with fantastic views out toward the limestone Hong islands.

The resort is quite remote, although you may think it's more remote than it actually is, due to its clever landscaping. There are shops and restaurants in Klong Muang, 15 minutes away by taxi, and more at Ao Nang, 25 minutes away.

Food and drink

The Arundina restaurant features a menu of some of the finest Thai food you will taste, with talented chefs creating authentic mouthwatering dishes.

Di Mare restaurant offers the simplicity of authentic Italian pizza and pasta by the sea.

The Sundowner bar lives up to its name, as the perfect place to enjoy the famous west coast sunset.

Families

This is a quiet, boutique property that doesn't have the family facilities available in other larger properties, so families may feel it is not suitable for them.

Local excursions

There are lots of trips that you can take while staying in this area, and the hotel is really helpful regarding making arrangements for guests.

Examples include rock climbing, watching Thai kick boxing, renting a long-tail boat for island-hopping, cooking classes, yoga, golf, and trips to islands in the area, such as James Bond Island and Koh Phi Phi.

Diving

Diving is excellent value in Thailand, and there is incredible coral and fish life to see.

The hotel can arrange diving with Kon-Tiki Dive Centre in Ao Nang, a PADI-certified school.

Spa Facilities

No Thai hotel stay is complete without a spa experience. From relaxing massages to Asian beauty treatments, using natural herbs, fruit and flower extracts, the Tubkaak spa offers total indulgence.

There are sauna and steam rooms, refreshing hot and cold plunge pools, and a wonderful outdoor massage area.

Surrounded by natural forest, shaded and peaceful, the spa provides a wonderful tonic, and a great way to re-energize after a long flight.
