Australia Specialist

I’ve had the travel bug since a young age and have explored over 40 countries to date. Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia have given me incredible experiences, but Australia stole my heart during my first backpacking trip in 2013.

Living and working in Australia for eight months was unforgettable. The stunning coastline, friendly people, diverse wildlife, and scenic beauty left a lasting impression. I knew I'd return. In 2022, my husband and I completed a round-the-world adventure with our young children, visiting places like Dubai, Bali, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the USA, and Europe (mostly in a campervan). Watching my five-year-old daughter snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef and my two-year-old son marvel at the Daintree Rainforest from a cable car, confirmed my desire to help others have their own Australian adventures.

With prior experience in the travel industry, I've longed to make other people’s dreams come true, especially for families. Sharing my love for Australia led me to join Audley Travel ― a perfect fit.

Q&A with Tara

The Grampians National Park, Victoria

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

The Grampians National Park is an area renowned for superb bushwalking, and so one morning I woke up early to go on a walk. I knew there was a chance of seeing wildlife in this area, but as I turned a corner, I was suddenly standing a few feet away from a family of huge Kangaroos. They were all staring at me, and we all froze. I just couldn't believe it. But as they hopped off and over the fence, I then looked up ahead and realised there were hundreds and hundreds of Kangaroos on both sides of the walk. Continuing I also saw a family of four emus and just couldn’t really catch my breath.

Female orangutan, Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo

Where would you love to travel next?

I’ve wanted to visit Borneo since I saw a brochure in a travel agency when I was 15 years of age. Although I've travelled extensively, and have been very close to Borneo, I just keep missing it. To spend time with orangutans and meet the locals has been a dream of mine for a long time now.

Tara in Sydney Harbour, Australia

Your best piece of travel advice?

As much as it’s nice to have a lie-in and relax on holiday, I’m a firm believer that waking up early to experience things is definitely a must and I always do it on my trips. Whether it’s a 5am start and being alone on the beach in Coral Bay watching a pod of dolphins swim by, or watching the sunrise with the crashing waves on the Sydney coastline, I would highly recommend setting that alarm earlier and seeing the world first while everyone else is tucked up in bed.
