Following an early breakfast you will be collected from your hotel by a comfortable minibus and driven east, stopping at a few hotels along the way to pick up other guests.
Upon arrival at your drop-in point you will have a safety briefing with your raft guide before entering the Pacuare River, which provides Costa Rica's most spectacular white-water rafting experience. This heart-thumping trip takes you through grade III and IV rapids, which wind their way through stunning virgin rainforest and several narrow, steep gorges where crystalline waterfalls pour out of the surrounding greenery.
The dense jungle around San José is home to an incredible variety of birds and butterflies, which can be seen along the river's banks in between each set of rapids.
You will enjoy a delicious packed lunch served on an upturned raft and have the opportunity to swim in a beautiful natural pool. Change into dry clothes before continuing back to your hotel in San José by minibus, which takes approximately two hours.
