Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection Santorini

Santorini, Greece

When people dream about their ideal base in Santorini, it’s probably the Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection Santorini they’re envisioning. The property is quintessentially Santorini — high standards, pristine white walls, vivid sunsets and sweeping sea views from high above. The envy-inducing pool has been the star of plenty of travel publication photography, and it’s easy to see why. The wide area affords plenty of space to swim, while the infinity edge makes it difficult to ascertain where the pool ends and the sea begins.

The 20 rooms are all cave-like in style with views of the sea and careful attention to detail. Guests looking to indulge can opt for a room with a private plunge pool. Outside, there are plenty of facilities considering the small size of the property. There is a spacious gym and a yoga studio that offers complimentary classes each morning. A small restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine overlooking the sea, and a pool bar services the pool area throughout the day and evening. The highlight however is the 363 Champagne Lounge where guests sip craft cocktails in an intimate setting, especially in the evenings as the sun sets in shades of orange, salmon and plum over the expansive sea.

OUR OPINION:

The sea and sunset views from the Grace hotel are some of the best on the island, but the amazing pool, and particularly attentive service are why we love this luxury property.

Rooms

The 20 rooms of the hotel are all in the traditional cave style with domed ceilings and windows at the front of the room facing the sea. The location in the caldera means that space is at a premium, so while all rooms have their own balcony area, most are adjacent to other balconies or the stairways that connect different areas of the hotel. Inside, the rooms are cave retreats where every detail has been carefully considered. Large, comfortable beds with pillow menus, spacious rain showers well stocked with luxury products, and even private plunge pools in certain rooms make it hard to even consider leaving.

Location

The property is dug out of the cliffside of the caldera in Imerovigli. Views are westward onto the sea and the caldera, and directly onto Santorini’s renowned Skaros rock. The town of Imerovigli surrounds the hotel, so restaurants and shops are all nearby in the maze of narrow streets and stairways. The cliffside location means the front of the hotel is not accessible by car, so porters are on hand to assist with luggage.

Food and drink

The hotel’s Santoro restaurant offers a fine dining menu of contemporary Mediterranean cuisine at lunch and dinner with both prix fixe and à la carte options. A multi-course à la carte breakfast is served each morning in a small, bright breakfast room and on the terrace and the menu changes daily.

Facilities and activities

For a small boutique property, the Grace boasts plenty of facilities. There is a gym as well as a yoga and Pilates studio where complimentary classes are offered each morning. There’s a boutique selling high-end resort wear and in-room spa treatments are available. One of the highlights is the hotel’s infinity pool which is one of the largest in the caldera and offers comfy loungers and sweeping views.
