Today you will begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Washington D.C.. On arrival in Washington make your own way to your downtown hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax.

Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. is a large city with many attractions so there is plenty to explore. Don't miss visiting the White House, the Capitol Building, the Smithsonian Institution and the many monuments and memorials along Washington Mall.

Day 3

Washington D.C. , Baltimore

Collect your hire car and drive north out of the city to Baltimore in the neighbouring state of Maryland. The short drive ensures the remainder of your day is free to explore Baltimore. Don't miss trying a delicious Baltimore crab lunch.

Day 4

Baltimore , Annapolis

Drive this morning from Baltimore to Annapolis. Upon arrival the afternoon is free for you to acquaint yourself with this historic naval city.

Annapolis

The day is yours to explore Annapolis. You can walk around the Naval Academy, take a cycle tour of the city, enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many waterfront restaurants or explore the city's rich heritage of old buildings.

Day 6

Annapolis , Virginia Beach

Drive south along the banks of Chesapeake Bay to Virginia Beach. This is a delightful drive past pretty coastal villages. Be sure to stop en route to sample one of the great fish restaurants along the bay.

Virginia Beach

Spend a day relaxing on the golden sandy beaches of Virginia Beach. Alternatively you may wish to participate in some of the many activities on offer including walking, mountain biking, kayaking, and fishing.

Virginia Beach , Williamsburg

Drive this morning from Virginia Beach to colonial Williamsburg. The remainder of the day is free to step back in time as you explore this historic city with its grand public buildings and pretty gardens. You may also wish to visit the nearby colonial settlement of Jamestown and the site of the 1783 Battle of Yorktown.

Williamsburg , Charlottesville

Today your drive takes you through the heart of Virginia's farmland country, past Lake Monticello, to the university city of Charlottesville. This afternoon is free to explore this lively historic town.

Charlottesville

Shenandoah National Park awaits your discovery today. This morning join a ranger-led tour along part of the Appalachian Trail and learn about the park's flora and fauna. In the afternoon you may wish to visit Dark Hollow Falls or climb to one of the higher parks of the park to take in the wonderful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Charlottesville

Today you may wish to visit some of the three former presidential homes situated nearby; James Monroe's Ash-Lawn Highlands, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, and James Madison's Montpelier.

Do I have to travel on certain dates?

Because all of our trips are tailor-made, you can depart on any date you wish (depending on flights) and for as long as you wish.

The itineraries provided on our website are suggestions only and you can change any aspect to suit your tastes and budget. Your destination specialist will be able to provide advice and answer your questions.

Will I be travelling as part of a group?

No, our tailor-made trips are arranged on an individual basis. This means you are not tied to the wishes of a group and can arrange your itinerary at your own pace.

If you are interested in a Group Tour, we do offer a range of departures in small groups of up to 16 people.

Isn’t it easier and cheaper to arrange the holiday myself?

Many of our clients like the independence that tailor-made travel brings, without the 'regimentation' of organised group tours, but with the reassurance of our professional planning and back-up services. For example, if the flight that we've booked is delayed, it's down to us to re-arrange your travel in the country.

When things go wrong, an independent traveller may find themselves putting in a good deal of time re-organising their plans, when they should be enjoying the trip. We also regularly hear from travellers claiming that they can independently organise the same trip for a lower price. Almost invariably it is not 'like for like' and they may find they incur much more expense during their travels.

What financial protection do you offer?

We hold an Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL number 4817) issued by the Civil Aviation Authority. When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday from us, in the unlikely event of our insolvency the CAA will ensure that you are not left stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking.
