What’s your job role?
Emma: Our role involves assisting clients in planning and organising unique and personalised trips around the world.
Sam: Using the extensive knowledge we have gained about the different destinations we offer around the world; our role is to provide the best possible service to our clients. We inspire and help them to choose the right destination for their trip with Audley Travel.
What does a typical day look like?
Emma and Sam: Due to the tailor-made aspect of the trips we offer it means we are faced with different challenges from day-to-day and therefore we’re constantly learning within the role, researching, and keeping up-to-date on various destinations. However, the core of each day involves contacting our clients and listening to their interests and preferences, with the aim of helping them to narrow down potential destinations before introducing them to their country specialist.
What have you enjoyed the most about your time at Audley?
Emma: That would have to be the amazing support I get from the team and the fact that everyone is happy and willing to share their knowledge. The most rewarding part is helping clients find the best destination that brings their dream holiday to life.
Sam: Sharing my passion for travel with clients on a day-to-day basis. Audley's commitment to providing exceptional service aligns with my values, making each interaction fulfilling. Another aspect is the social side of life at Audley, I particularly enjoyed the annual ‘One team event’ at Ascot Racecourse in October 2023. It was a great opportunity to meet colleagues from across the business and gain more knowledge and inspiration from our partners and suppliers who attended the event.
What’s given you the biggest sense of achievement at Audley?
Emma: How well I have been able adapt and fit in well with the office lifestyle. I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge on what it means to work in a professional environment.
Sam: Personally, my biggest achievement since starting here at Audley has been seeing my development and improvement, particularly the way I am now able to confidently communicate with my clients.
How would you describe the working and office environment?
Emma and Sam: We have both found the office environment and culture to be welcoming, friendly, professional and above all fun. Everyone is willing to help at any time, there's a strong sense of teamwork with everyone working together sharing a passion for travel and ensuring our clients receive the best service and trips with Audley.
Why should someone do their work placement at Audley Travel?
Emma: The work environment at Audley is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my work placement. The supportive, fun and driven work culture is inspiring and is why I would strongly recommend undertaking your work placement here.
Sam: Audley Travel provides an exceptional learning environment for those looking for a year in industry as part of their degree course. Working in such a supportive, professional environment has meant I’ve developed my communication skills, with both clients and colleagues, as well as building on other important skills within the workplace. Audley’s emphasis on personal and professional development makes this the ideal place for a fulfilling work placement.
