While studying languages at university, I became fascinated with the cultural side of my degree and began to spend as much time abroad as possible.
At every opportunity, I would find a way to travel, whether through volunteering, au pairing, teaching, or chalet hosting. I feel fortunate to have now lived in Switzerland, France, Spain and most recently, Japan. Every experience makes me want to explore more.
My unforgettable time spent in different corners of the globe solidified my decision to pursue a career in travel and, importantly, for a sustainable company that cares about the planet the same way I do. I feel very fortunate to be part of Audley clients' journeys in finding the perfect destination for their next adventure.
Q&A with Halle
What's your most vivid travel moment?
My most memorable travel experience was snowboarding down Mount Asahidake, an active volcano in the north of Japan. We toured upward, weaving our way around the geysers, with only a few other people spotted on the mountain. After a brief pause at the top to snack on onigiri and take in the view, we rode fresh tracks down the mountain in waist-deep powder, finishing at the local onsen to soothe our muscles.
What's your best piece of travel advice?
Be open to anything and everything! Some of my most memorable travel experiences have been spontaneous or because of the people I met along the way. When I visited Norway, I organized a homestay with a local family. They took me sailing down the Oslofjord, and it was the highlight of my trip. Locals always know best!
Where would you love to travel to next?
Argentina has been at the top of my destination wish-list for as long as I can remember. I would love to trek through the country on horseback, taste the finest wines, explore Patagonia, and ski the Andes. I believe that with its diverse scenery, wildlife, and vibrant cities, the country has a great deal to offer.
