Glaciers of Prince William Sound

Cruise West operate small ships that allow you to get to places that the larger vessels can only see through binoculars. Every day brings a new adventure and you'll enjoy traveling in a Zodiac or stepping ashore in an untouched wilderness.

The Glacier Wonderland cruise includes some stunning scenery. Prince William Sound lies just south of the rugged Chugach Mountains — a breathtaking maze of forested islands, glacier carved fjords and wildlife-filled waterways. This area is every bit as spectacular as the traditional Inside Passage, but far less traveled, giving you a hint of what the world looked like after the last Ice Age.

Wildlife surrounds you in these waters — bald eagles dot the sky, curious sea otters gaze up at you from their beds of kelp, and pods of orcas and other whales that reside here year-round are often viewed.

You'll also see plenty of glaciers calving, as this area is home to the largest concentration of tidewater glaciers in North America. And thanks to the bow-ladder on the ship, Spirit of Columbia, you can walk ashore on uninhabited islands to explore untouched tidepools.
