South Africa Specialist

Growing up in South Africa, I was lucky to spend many of my vacations exploring the Kruger National Park with my family. Those early trips into the bush are where my passion for wildlife and travel began. There’s nothing quite like a morning safari, coffee in hand, watching the bush come to life as the sun rises.

That passion eventually led me to work as a guide for part of my life, where I had the opportunity to share the magic of the bush with others. One of the things I love most about the wilderness is that you’re always learning — no two days are the same, and there’s always something new to discover.

After moving to the UK, I was excited to turn my passion into a career by helping travelers plan their perfect trip to South Africa. It’s incredibly rewarding to share a place that means so much to me and see others fall in love with it in the same way I did.

Q&A with Guy

Gorilla family in Rwanda

Where would you love to travel next?

The next place on my list would have to be Rwanda. It’s always been a dream of mine to go trekking through the forest in search of gorillas and spend time observing these incredible animals in their natural habitat. There’s something truly special about the idea of being immersed in their world, watching their behavior up close, and experiencing such a rare and powerful wildlife encounter.

What’s the one thing you always pack?

Binoculars. While you often get incredibly close to wildlife on safari, having binoculars to hand makes all the difference when it comes to the finer details. They let you fully appreciate the smaller moments, from spotting birds high in the trees to picking out the subtle movements of smaller animals you might otherwise miss. It’s those little details that often make a safari experience so special, and binoculars ensure you don’t miss a thing.

Which book, film, or artwork captures your specialty destination the most?

‘Changing a Leopard's Spots: The Adventures of Two Wildlife Trackers’. This is a book written by arguably two of the best trackers to ever work in the safari industry. It gives a great idea of how the relationship between a guide and a tracker is so important in the safari industry, as well as giving a better insight into how skillful these trackers are and the role they play in conservation.
