Gulangyu Miryam Boutique Hotel Xiamen is housed in a small but charming Victorian-style villa, offering just 15 guestrooms. With an enviable location on tranquil Gulangyu Island, the property is just a short ferry ride from the city of Xiamen. Staying here, you're conveniently located for exploring the island’s many attractions, including Nanputuo Temple and museums. There are no cars on the island, so you can also spend time walking along the esplanade and the beach and admiring the colonial buildings.
Each of the rooms is furnished with period furniture — some with four-poster beds — and has an en suite bathroom. From your window and from the communal terraces, you can take in views over the sea or the surrounding hills. Meals are served in the upscale restaurant, Ludwig, part of a chain of top-quality restaurants run by Chef Tomer Biran. When not out exploring the island, you can take a swim in the outdoor pool or stroll through the beautifully landscaped garden.
Each of the 15 spacious rooms has its own character, furnished with period wooden furniture including dressers and double beds, some of which are four-poster. Long drapes hang at the large windows, which allow for plenty of natural light. Some rooms have patterned rugs and fireplaces, adding to the warm and welcoming ambience. Within your room, you'll find a TV, hairdryer and safe among other amenities. Wi-Fi and air conditioning are included, and there are free-standing, roll-top baths in the en suite bathrooms.
The property is located a short drive and ferry ride from Xiamen Gaoqui International Airport, and is just 1 mile (1.6 km) from the ferry terminal on Gulangyu Island. There are no cars on the island, but it's easy to explore on foot, with the esplanade, the beach, museums and Nanputuo Temple all just a short walk away.
Food and Drink
The hotel has one restaurant, which serves both Chinese and international cuisines. During the day, you can enjoy snacks, cakes, tea and coffee in the property's cafe.
Facilities and Activities
The property makes a relaxing base to return to after a day of exploring. You can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the landscaped gardens, where you'll also find the outdoor swimming pool. Its convenient location allows for easy walks to Nanputuo Temple, the esplanade, the beach and museums. You can also hike up the nearby hill for excellent views over the sea and the island.
While we've had mixed feedback regarding the food and service levels here, the property's characterful, well-appointed rooms and peaceful island location make a stay worthwhile.
