With jagged peaks entwined in cloud, Huang Shan is China’s foremost sacred mountain.

Rocky crags of Huangshan Take the cable car up through scenes of ethereal beauty and enjoy the walk down, or stay overnight in the summit hotel to witness the sunrise and explore the many peaks as the mists unfurl in the valleys below.

Nearby there are fascinating traditional villages, the likes of which are fast-disappearing from modern China. Nanping and Hongcun in particular are two of the most interesting and picturesque villages in the country, with ancient houses reflected in still ponds.
